With the right headphone port adapter, you have hundreds of pairs of iPhone-compatible earphones to choose from. So why would you ever consider buying Apple’s iPhone Stereo Headset ($29), a duplicate of and replacement for the pair of microphone-laden earbuds included with every iPhone?

Apple just released the iPhone Firmware 1.01 security update that plugs various holes in Safari. This is only a security update with no new features that I can find. On the plus side, it will make your iPhone much more secure.

Remember that you must sync your iPhone via iTunes in order to get the update. Apple noted that the iPhone update would not show up in the Software Update on your Mac.

NASA astronauts and other employees won’t be using Apple iPhones to surf the Internet or send text messages anytime soon — at least not while they’re on the job. On the other hand, they could soon have access to spiffy new BlackBerrys.

Rumors that Apple is wearing the pants a little too often in their iPhone relationship with AT&T have received a boost, now that the wireless carrier seems to have stopped promoting the pricey phone on their main page barely a month after its June 29th launch.
